Mandy Gets A Husband

Non - Pro Pictures

Our wedding was in a mansion from the 1800s called the Lougheed House.  It's got tons of history as an important political figure built the house and lived there with his family.  The house is now a historical site.  Sir Lougheed also has a hospital named after him here in Calgary.

This is me and my "mama", she was my mom's best friend and has been my stand in mom.  When her and I got a look at each other, we just started crying.  It was a beautiful moment and when I look at this photo it brings me RIGHT back to that moment

I wore my uggs outside for photos with our photographer.  He wanted to sneak out while we still had daylight!  My dad's wife had to snap a photo of me in my dress and boots!

Me and my "mama" and her husband chatting after the ceremony!

Unfortunately, my seamstress couldn't do anything about the top part of my dress and it would bunch a bit throughout the day :(  But, I don't care, I still loved it!

My cute, chubby foot :)

I didn't realize that people put your earrings in for you AND put perfume on for you....

Oh and someone else has to put your garter on for you too!!  :)

The house we married in and my husband to be awaiting my arrival!

We did a "hand fasting" ceremony instead of the sand or candle lighting.  What you do is put a scarf around your hands and then our commissioner said some really nice words... they used it back before there were wedding bands.
This is what he said:
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And finally, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and old, will still be reaching out for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness, with just a touch ...

The stairs Mike is standing on were the stairs used by the staff in order to bring food down to the ball room at parties.  They were steeper than a mo-fo!
